WE WILL BEGIN THE MORNING WITH AN INVOCATION, GUEST OF COUNCILMAN PELAEZ.

BUT IT IS MY HONOR TO INTRODUCE MINISTER TRAVIS EADES OF OAK HILLS CHURCH.

TRAVIS SERVES THE PEOPLE OF OAK HILLS CHURCH AS THEIR LEAD PASTOR.

HE HAS JUST RECENTLY RECEIVED THIS CALL FOLLOWING HIS FRIEND, MENTOR, AND GREAT CITIZEN MAX LUCADO.

HE AND HIS WIFE MOVED HERE TO RAISE THEIR FOUR CHILDREN AND HIS PASSION IS TO SEE THE CHURCH BE THE HANDS AND FEET OF CHRIST IN THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO.

AND AS MANY OF YOU MAY KNOW, AS THE U.S. POPULATION AGES AND PEOPLE STAY HEALTHY AND ACTIVE LONGER, COMMUNITIES MUST ADAPT.

OUR CITY, SAN ANTONIO, IS NO DIFFERENT.

IN 2014 MAYOR CASTRO JOINED THE AARP NETWORK OF AGE FRIENDLY COMMUNITIES SOLIDIFYING THE COMMITMENT FOR HEALTHIER, HAPPIER RESIDENTS OF ALL AGENTS.

THE AARP IS AN AFFILIATE OF THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAM.

INITIATIVES FOCUS ON AREAS SUCH AS HOUSING, CARE GIVING, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, VOLUNTEERING, SOCIAL INCLUSION AND COMBATING ISOLATION AMONG OLDER CITIZENS.

AND THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT HELP OLDER SAN ANTONIANS HELP PEOPLE OF ALL AGES.

MORE LIVABLE AGE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITIES FROM THE GRANDMOTHER WITH A WALKER TO THE MOTHER WRANGLING CHILDREN IN A STROLLER.

RECENTLY MY STAFF AND I WERE PLEASED TO WORK WITH AARP ON SAN ANTONIO'S NEW HOUSING POLICY.

THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE AGE 50 AND OLDER WANT TO STAY IN THEIR HOMES AND COMMUNITIES FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.

AND ONE OF THE BIGGEST PARTS OF THAT IS HOUSING.

I'M PROUD TO SAY WE'RE PROMOTING HOUSING THAT ENABLES RESIDENTS TO LIVE SAFELY, COMFORTABLY, AND INDEPENDENTLY FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.

THIS IS JUST ONE WAY THAT WE'RE WORKING TO MAKE OUR CITY A MORE AGE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITY.

I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING TOGETHER WITH AARP TO MAKE OUR CITY EVEN BETTER TOGETHER IN THE MONTHS AND YEARS TO COME.

I KNOW WE HAVE MEMBERS OF AARP PRESENT HERE WITH US IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS TODAY.

SO I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THEM TO COME FORWARD AND GIVE A FEW BRIEF REMARKS.

FIRST OF ALL, AGAIN, ACKNOWLEDGING MAYOR NIRENBERG FOR REENROLLING AND RECOMMITTING THE CITY TO BE AN AGE-FRIENDLY CITY.

AS I SAID LAST TIME I WAS HERE AT THE HOUSING MEETING IS THAT WE DO HAVE OVER 100,000 MEMBERS.

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY A THIRD OF SAN ANTONIO'S POPULATION IS 50 PLUS.

AND IT'S ONLY GOING TO CONTINUE TO GROW.

SO THIS CONFIRMATION, THIS ACKNOWLEDGMENT IS REALLY AN ATTESTMENT AND WE'RE VERY PROUD TO BE IN THIS CITY, THAT YOU DO CARE ABOUT 50-PLUSSERS.

WE'RE ALL GOING TO GET THERE.

CLOSER THAN MOST OF, SOME OF YOU.

WE ALSO WANT TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SAY WE STARTED THIS SINCE 2014 GATHERING PUBLIC INPUT FROM ALL SECTORS OF SAN ANTONIO AND WE WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK COUNCILWOMAN GONZALES, COUNCILMAN REY SALDANA AND COUNCILMAN TREVINO, BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN WITH US THROUGH ALL THESE YEARS ENSURING CONSTANT SUPPORT.

I KNOW ALL THE OTHERS ON THE COUNCIL ARE, I'M SURE, SUPPORTIVE AS WELL.

WE WANT TO GET TO KNOW YOU.

WE DON'T HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU BUT WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO WORK WITHIN YOUR DISTRICTS.

AS WE DID WITH HOUSING, IT'S FOR ALL, AND WE'RE FOCUSING ON 50 PLUS.

YOU'RE DOING AN AMAZING JOB.

I WANT TO SAY ALSO WE MET RECENTLY ABOUT THE NEW PEDESTRIAN MOBILITY OFFICER AND WANT TO GET YOUR SUPPORT TO MAKE SURE THIS PEDESTRIAN MOBILITY OFFICER HAS A GREAT RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR ORGANIZATION, BECAUSE IT IS YOUR ORGANIZATION THAT HAS LED ON THESE ISSUES OF MOBILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY FOR OUR CITY.

AARP HAS THEIR HEADQUARTERS ON GUADALUPE IN DISTRICT 5.

AND THEY HAVE AN INCREDIBLE ORGANIZATION.

AND SO A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I WAS INVITED TO SPEAK TO AN AARP GROUP IN CHICAGO TO TALK ABOUT VISION ZERO.

AND IT WAS JUST AARP STAFF.

IT WASN'T MEMBERSHIP.

I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THE ORGANIZATION, HOW INNOVATIVE AARP IS, HOW INCLUSIVE IT IS.

I KNOW AS YOU SAID, 50 IS NOT SO FAR.

AND WE DO ALL HOPE TO GET THERE.

BUT IT REALLY WAS A VERY YOUNG AT HEART ORGANIZATION.

IN FACT, I FELT VERY MUCH AT HOME WITH ALL THE AARP STAFF OVER THERE IN CHICAGO.

AND THAT WAS A NATIONWIDE ORGANIZATION.

AND I HAD A LOT OF MISCONCEPTIONS MYSELF ABOUT WHAT IT MEANT TO BE AN AARP MEMBER OR IN FACT WHAT THE ORGANIZATION DOES.

BECAUSE IT WAS, OF COURSE, WHILE YOUR ATTENTION IS FOR OLDER AMERICANS, THE REALITY IS WE ARE DESIGNING CITIES NOW FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.

IN FACT, SOMETIMES THE WAY THAT WE DESIGN CITIES FOR CHILDREN WILL ACTUALLY BE IMPACTFUL FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES.

BECAUSE WE KNOW JUST LIKE WE TALK ABOUT SENIORS AGING IN PLACE AND PEOPLE AGING IN PLACE, THE NEIGHBORHOODS THAT WE DESIGN, IF WE DESIGN THEM FOR SENIORS OR WE DESIGN THEM FOR CHILDREN, IT MEANS THEY'RE SAFE FOR EVERYONE.

SO AARP IS SO IMPORTANT IN GETTING THAT WORD OUT AND ALSO IN THEIR DATA COLLECTION.

IT'S ALSO, PERHAPS, SOMETHING PEOPLE DON'T KNOW IS THEY HAVE INCREDIBLE DATA TO SHARE WITH ALL OF US AND THEY'VE ALWAYS BEEN WILLING TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION.

SO I'M VERY PROUD OF AARP AND THE WORK THEY'RE DOING HERE IN SAN ANTONIO, BUT ALSO ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

AS MAYBE THE ONLY MEMBER ON THE COUNCIL WHO'S OLD ENOUGH -- EXCEPT FOR COUNCILMAN PERRY, WHO DOESN'T WANT TO ADMIT IT, I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THE SERVICES THAT YOU PROVIDE FOR THE PEOPLE HERE IN SAN ANTONIO.

IT IS THE YEAR AND MULTI-YEAR OF BRACKENRIDGE PARK TO MOVE IT FORWARD WITH THIS EXPANDED MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT WE'LL BE ABLE TO DELVE INTO THE MASTER PLAN STRATEGIES THAT WERE ADOPTED BY CITY COUNCIL.

ONE OF WHICH IS THE RESTORATION OF THE HISTORIC STRUCTURES IN THE PARK.

AND THIS EXPANDED AGREEMENT DOES GIVE US THAT OPPORTUNITY TO DO THAT.

IT IS SUCH AN EXCITING PERIOD RIGHT NOW AND IT'S NOT FRIVOLOUS ACTIVITY THAT IS GOING ON.

WE DO GO THROUGH A PROCESS FOR NOTIFICATION OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE WITHIN THE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT.

ON SEPTEMBER 7 WE MAILED NOTICES TO 746 PROPERTY OWNERS WITHIN THE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT.

THE PID BOARD APPROVED THE ASSESSMENT PLAN.

ON SEPTEMBER 9 WE PLACED AN ADVERTISEMENT IN THE "SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS NEWS" TO NOTIFY ANY INDIVIDUALS THAT PERHAPS P D NOT RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION.

FOR 2018 ACCOMPLISHMENTS, THIS IS JUST TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT CENTRO HAS DONE IN THE PAST YEAR.

ONE OF THE BIGGEST IS ALMOST 1.4 MILLION DOWNTOWN VISITORS WERE ASSISTED.

THIS IS THROUGH THE AMBASSADORS THAT YOU SEE DOWNTOWN.

48 MILLION SQUARE FEET OF PRESSURE WASHING, THAT'S PRIMARILY SIDEWALKS IN THE DNA.

AND 990 HOMELESS MANAGEMENT ENTRIES.

SO THEY'RE HAVING A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON THE DOWNTOWN AREA, MAKING THAT EXPERIENCE BETTER FOR VISITORS AND PEOPLE THAT WORK AND LIVE IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA.

FOR 2019, THEIR CORE SERVICES INCLUDE CONTINUATION OF CLEAN AND SAFE PLUS LANDSCAPING AND MAINTENANCE.

FOCUSING ON ACTIVATION, PARTICULARLY AROUND HOUSTON STREET AND TRAVIS PARK AND MILAM PARK.

CONTINUING WITH THE AMBASSADOR PROGRAM IN TERMS OF HOSPITALITY.

AND THEN ALSO FOCUSING ON A SPECIAL PROJECT, IS ZONA CULTURAL AREA, AND CONTINUATION OF THAT.

THERE ARE SOME CHANGES THIS YEAR TO THE CONTRACT WITH THE CITY.

REALLY THIS JUST HIGHLIGHTS SOME OF THE BIGGER CONTRACTUAL CHANGES.

WE'RE STRENGTHENING THE REPORTING AND MONITORING FOR THAT CONTRACT.

STREAMLINING REQUESTS FOR PAYMENT.

MOVING TO AN ELECTRONIC PROCESS.

ADDITIONAL TRASH CONTAINERS WERE BROUGHT IN, CREW MEMBERS WERE SENT OVER TO SWEEP AREAS THAT NEEDED IT.

IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT WE HAD A PARTNER WITH US WHOM SHARED OUR COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE THE MOST POSITIVE IMAGE OF ALL THOSE VISITING OUR CITY, ESPECIALLY OUR RIVER WALK.

AND IT'S NOT JUST THE FOOT SOLDIERS, THE AMBASSADORS IN YELLOW THAT WE SEE ON THE STREET THAT ARE POLISHING, CLEANING, GUIDING VISITORS, BUT IT'S THE BEHIND THE SCENES AUDIO] THAT ARE BRINGING BUSINESS OWNERS AND LEADERS OF NONPROFITS AS COLLABORATORS TOGETHER TO MAKE SAN ANTONIO THE VIBRANT CITY THAT IT DESERVES TO BE.

WE'RE NOT LIMITED BY GEOGRAPHY.

WE CONTINUE TO HAVE AN URBAN SPRAWL.

AND THAT HAS A DANGER OF DILUTION.

THAT WE SERVE AS A CONNECTION TO THE VISITORS OF SAN ANTONIO AND THE SERVICES THEY NEED.

THAT WE SERVE AS A CONNECTION FOR NATIVE SAN ANTONIANS TO DISCOVER THEIR OWN CITY.

THIS CITY IS ALL ABOUT CONNECTIONS.

WE HAVE A TEAM OF PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE THAT KNOW HOW TO ENGAGE THE HOMELESS UNDER BRIDGES IN THE WOODS.

WE WORK CLOSELY WITH THE CITY ON THOSE PROGRAMS. OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CENTRO DEVELOPED TO WHERE WE HAVE TWO AND A HALF FULL-TIME PEOPLE THAT THESE ARE PROFESSIONAL, CAPABILITY, GIFTED OUTREACH WORKERS THAT WORK EVERY DAY IN DOWNTOWN RECRUITING PEOPLE TO COME TO HAVEN FOR HOPE, GIVING THEM HELP, WORK CLOSELY WITH OFFICER MCCANN.

AND IT HELPS PROTECT THE BEAUTY AND ENJOYMENT OF DOWNTOWN.

AS YOU KNOW, IT HELPS PEOPLE TOO.

ANOTHER BENEFIT OF OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CENTRO IS THAT SINCE I THINK ABOUT 2011, CENTRO HAS HIRED OVER 100 -- ABOUT 130 INDIVIDUALS FROM THE HAVEN CAMPUS.

IT'S THAT FIRST TIME TO GET A JOB AFTER THE CAMPUS.

AND RIGHT NOW CENTRO HAS 32 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES THAT CAME FROM HAVEN FOR HOPE.

LAST WEEK I WAS STANDING ON THE CAMPUS.

A MAN WAS GIDDY ABOUT THE JOB HE RECEIVED.

HE WAS MOVING ON.

HE WAS GOING TO WORK FOR CENTRO.

WE'RE PROUD TO PARTNER WITH THEM.

IT'S AN EXCELLENT RELATIONSHIP.

WE THINK THE WORK IS IMPORTANT.

FOR TWO DAYS MY WIFE AND I FIELDED COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT.

WHO IS GOING TO CLEAN THIS UP? COME CLEAN THIS UP? FINALLY, I WENT AND CLEANED IT UP MYSELF.

CENTRO DIDN'T DO IT.

THEY DO NOT GO IN FRONT OF MY BUILDING.

WHAT I WANT TO GO ON RECORD TODAY TOO TO SAY I BELIEVE THAT THERE'S A 12-STORY APARTMENT COMPLEX GOING UP RIGHT NEXT TO ME IN THE PARKING LOT THAT'S THERE.

IT'S ALSO MY BELIEF THAT THAT APARTMENT COMPLEX WILL NOT PAY THIS TAX.

I'M GOING ON RECORD SAYING THAT'S WHAT I'VE HEARD.

IF THIS PROJECT COMES TO FRUITION AND THE APARTMENT BUILDING DOES NOT PAY THE TAX, I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD BE EXEMPT FROM IT TOO.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CENTRO AND ALL OF THE DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY.

BECAUSE WE WANT TO CREATE CONNECTIVITY AND LINKAGES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FREEWAY AND TO THE ENTIRE DOWNTOWN.

AS YOU KNOW, ABOUT $80 MILLION WAS INCLUDED IN THE VOTER-APPROVED 2017 BOND PROGRAM FOR INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE ZONA CULTURAL AREA.

SO WE'LL BE WORKING ON THOSE DESIGN ISSUES.

IN FACT, THE URBAN LAND INSTITUTE IS WORKING WITH DR. AMY AND WITH THE CITY ON THOSE DESIGN COMPONENTS SO THAT WE CAN PRESERVE THE HISTORY AND CULTURE IN THE WEST PART OF DOWNTOWN AND CREATE THAT CONNECTIVITY OF THE CAMPUS AS IT EXPANDS TO THE EAST AND THE WEST.

SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED THAT CENTRO WAS A PART OF THIS ENDEAVOR TO HELP UTSA EXPAND IN OUR DOWNTOWN AREA.

THIS IS A NATIONAL PRIZE WHICH HONORS COMMUNITIES FOR THEIR EFFORTS TO ENSURE ALL RESIDENTS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO LIVE HEALTHIER LIVES AND TO EARN THIS DISTINGUISHED PRIZE WE HAD TO DEMONSTRATE HOW OUR EFFORTS REFLECT THE SIX CULTURES OF THE HEALTH PRIZE CRITERIA.

THIS YEAR'S SAN ANTONIO'S APPLICATION WAS SPEARHEADED BY OUR METROPOLITAN HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND IT SHOWCASES EXAMPLES SUCH AS OUR PRE-K 4 SA, HAVEN FOR HOPE, SAN ANTONIO POLICE DEPARTMENT'S MENTAL HEALTH UNIT AND RESTORATION CENTER.

OUR APPLICATION HIGHLIGHTED HOW A COMMUNITY CAN USE DATA-DRIVEN APPROACHES TO PROMOTE CHILDREN'S ABILITY TO LEARN AND THRIVE, INCREASE GREEN SPACES, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, HELP MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE IN CRISIS AND UNITE THE HOMELESS.

SAN ANTONIO WILL RECEIVE A $25,000 CASH PRIZE AND A NATIONAL PLATFORM TO SHARE OUR STORY AND LESSONS LEARNED WITH OTHER CITIES IN THE COUNTRY.

THE MONEY WILL BE PRESENTED TO COUNCIL FOR ACCEPTANCE.

AND THEN OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS WILL WORK TOGETHER ON A PLAN FOR HOW TO USE THOSE DOLLARS.

EACH YEAR SAN ANTONIO HAS ONE OF THE LARGEST EVENTS IN THE NATION WITH TENS OF THOUSANDS OF OUR RESIDENTS THROUGHOUT THE CITY MEETING ON PORCHES, BLOCK PARTIES, COMMUNITY CENTERS, AND PARKS TO REDUCE CRIME AND STRENGTHEN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD BONDS.

IN 2017 OVER 1200 COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS REGISTERED THEIR EVENT WITH OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND AS OF TODAY WE HAVE OVER 400 ORGANIZATIONS THAT HAVE REGISTERED.

SO WE KNOW MORE ARE REGISTERING EACH DAY.

WE ARE ACCEPTING REGISTRATIONS THROUGH SEPTEMBER 28, THAT'S NEXT FRIDAY.

AND WE ENCOURAGE ANY ORGANIZATION HOSTING AN EVENT TO REGISTER BY CALLING 207-8927.

THE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EMBODIES THE SPIRIT AND COMMITMENT OF OUR RESIDENTS WHO DEDICATE THOUSANDS OF HOURS EACH YEAR VOLUNTEERING WITH THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO AND VARIOUS NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZATIONS TO ENHANCE OUR QUALITY OF LIFE AND ENSURE THAT SAN ANTONIO REMAINS ONE OF THE SAFEST BIG CITIES IN THE COUNTRY.

THE ATTENDANCE HAS GROWN OVER THE YEARS FROM 15,000, THE VERY FIRST SICLOVIA WE DID, TO 70,000 THAT ARE EXPECTED ON SEPTEMBER 30TH.

AND THEN LASTLY, MAYOR AND COUNCIL, THE SAN ANTONIO PARKS FOUNDATION HAS ANNOUNCED THE DETAILS FOR THE MUCH-ANTICIPATED THIS WEEKEND.

A LOT OF BUSINESSES THAT USED TO BE OVER THERE ARE NOW GONE.

THEY CAME IN THE AREA, AND GOT A VACANT BUILDING AND TURNED IT INTO A HIGH-END AND HIGH CLIENTELE BUSINESS.

IT'S A FAMILY BUSINESS, A REPUTABLE BUSINESS.

BUT I'VE NOTICED SINCE THEY'VE BEEN OVER THERE, THEY'VE WORKED WITH THE COMMUNITY.

WE WERE ABLE TO GET RID OF SOME OF THE BAD ELEMENT THAT'S THRIVED FOR YEARS.

IT PROVIDED SOME JOBS OVER THERE.

AND IT'S JUST A GOOD FAMILY.

THEY USED TO WORK OVER ON THE NORTH SIDE, WHERE THEIR BUSINESS WAS, AND THEY DECIDED TO COME OVER HERE.

NOBODY WANTED THE BUILDING.

IT WAS BECOMING A HANGOUT FOR THINGS THAT SHOULDN'T BE DONE.

AND THAT'S ALL I'M GOING TO SAY ON THAT.

SO M 4 ENTITIES, AND THE STRAUSSBERG AND PRICE WHO ARE OUR ATTORNEYS WENT AHEAD AND STRUCK A DEAL WITH THE OWNER SO WE COULD DO A TWO-YEAR LEASE WITH A PURCHASE CONVENTIONAL LOAN WITHIN TWO YEARS.

AND HE WAS GOING TO ASSIST US WITH THE DEED SO THAT WE COULD DO THIS THEN.

SO WE COULD GET THIS AMENDMENT DONE THEN.

WHAT HAPPENED WAS, AS YOU CAN SEE, AND YOU CAN SEE THE FULL DISCLOSURE ON ATTACHMENT "A" OF ALL THE HISTORY AS WE GO THROUGH IT, IN DECEMBER THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED.

IT HAS LOOKED LIKE THIS FOR MANY YEARS.

THAT IS A PICTURE FROM 2014 -- OR 2004.

HERE'S ONE FROM THIS MORNING.

MR. MARTINEZ, WHO OWNS THE RESTAURANT NEXT DOOR, HAS USED THIS AS A LOT, AS WELL AS OTHERS, AND IT'S BEEN UGLY AND DUSTY, MUDDY NOW, DUSTY WHEN IT DOESN'T RAIN, AND ALWAYS AN EYESORE.

WE WERE HAPPY TO LEARN THAT MR. MARTINEZ HAS APPLIED FOR THIS ZONE CHANGE SO THAT HE CAN CONSTRUCT A GOOD LOOKING, PAVED, WELL-LANDSCAPED PARKING LOT THAT WOULD BE JUST FINE WITH US.

SO THAT'S WHY WE SUPPORT IT.

THERE IS, THOUGH, THE QUESTION IN MY MIND OF THE -- OF HOW FAST THAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

SO MR. MARTINEZ DID SIGN A LETTER OF AGREEMENT, OR WHAT'S THIS CALLED, LETTER OF INTENT, WHICH I'D LIKE TO BE FILED WITH THE CASE, THAT HE WILL, OF COURSE, FOLLOW ALL THE -- NOT THE ZONING, BUT THE BUILDING CODES AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS THAT HE MUST.

BUT HE ALSO MUST REPORT TO ME EVERY 60 DAYS ABOUT HIS PROGRESS TOWARD FUNDING TOWARD GETTING PERMITS AND THE ACTUAL CONSTRUCTION.

AND WE WILL FOLLOW THAT CLOSELY.

AS PART OF THOSE EFFORTS WE CAME TO SOME CONDITIONS THAT EVERYONE IS AGREEABLE TO FOR THE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPERTY.

THEY INCLUDE THAT BUILDINGS FRONTING ON BROADWAY CANNOT EXCEED SIX STORIES, OR 75 FEET IN HEIGHT.

MULTI-FAMILY UNITS FACING NOTTINGHAM OR NACOGDOCHES NOT OVER 30 FEET IN HEIGHT.

AND EVERYBODY AGREES NOT TO PURSUE ZONING CHANGES THAT WOULD INCREASE THE OVERALL MULTIFAMILY UNITS TO MORE THAN 223 UNITS.

AS PART OF THAT, WE DO HAVE RESTRICTIVE COVENANTS THAT I'LL ENTER INTO THE RECORD.

SO, WITH OAK PARK NORTHWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION, THEY HAVE VOTED IN SUPPORT OF THIS ZONING CHANGE.

THERE WERE SOME PROPERTY OWNERS WHO OWNED, YOU KNOW, WITHIN THE 200 FEET AND NEARBY, AND THEY DID HAVE A PETITION DRIVE.

WE'VE HAD MULTIPLE MEETINGS, AND THAT'S HOW WE CAME TO THESE COVENANTS, CERTAIN AGREEMENTS ON THE UNIT COUNT, BUILDING HEIGHT.

YOU KNOW, THERE WERE REQUESTS THAT BUILDINGS FRONTING TOWARDS THE SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES BE LESSER IN HEIGHT.

THAT'S WHERE THE THREE STORIES CAME FROM.

AND THEN THERE WERE CONCERNS ABOUT OVERALL HEIGHT ON THE PROPERTY, SO THAT'S WHERE THE SIX STORIES CAME FROM.

SO I THINK, YOU KNOW, WE'VE WORKED HARD WITH THOSE NEIGHBORS, AND I THINK THAT THEY'RE AT LEAST CONTENT WITH THIS, AND THEY'RE OKAY WITH THE ZONING CHANGE.

AND A RIGHT TURN LANE TURNING ONTO NACOGDOCHES.

AND THE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES, THERE'S ALSO QUESTIONS ABOUT PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS.

NACOGDOCHES AND NOTTINGHAM, EXCUSE ME.

WE'RE WORKING ON HOW WE CAN IMPROVE THAT INTERSECTION FOR PEOPLE WALKING IN THE AREA.

ALSO, THERE WILL BE THE TEN-FOOT MULTI-USE PATH SURROUNDING THE PROPERTY.

AND THOSE ARE KIND OF THE MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS.

BUT WE'RE WORKING ON THE TRAFFIC.
