BEFORE WE DIG INTO THAT THOUGH, I WANTED TO TALK JUST IN GENERAL ABOUT SOUTHWEST RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR, AND I, I ONLY HAVE ABOUT FIVE SLIDES HERE, SO I'LL KEEP IT QUICK.

UH, WE HAVE DIVISIONS THAT DO EVERYTHING FROM DEEP SEA TO DEEP SPACE HERE.

UM, WE DO A LOT OF, UH, DIFFERENT PROJECTS FOR GOVERNMENT AND COMMERCIAL CLIENTS.

UH, WE ACTUALLY FUND, UH, A LOT OF INTERNAL RESEARCH HERE TOO.

WE FUND, UH, ABOUT $7 MILLION OF INTERNAL RESEARCH.

AND EVERYTHING THAT YOU'RE GOING TO SEE TODAY ACTUALLY STARTED OUT OF SOME OF OUR INTERNAL RESEARCH, UH, FUNDING THAT WE THEN, UH, HAVE GROWN OVER THE YEARS, UH, INTO EXTERNALLY FUNDED PROJECTS TOO.

UM, ALMOST ALL OF OUR FOLKS ARE IN SAN ANTONIO.

AND THEY HAVE A OFFICE OF ABOUT 180 FOLKS THAT ARE OUT IN BOULDER, COLORADO.

HE'LL, HE'LL HELP WITH THE DEMOS THIS AFTERNOON.

UM, AGAIN, WE STARTED IN 2006 OUT OF OUR INTERNAL FUNDING.

WE HAVE DONE A VARIETY OF ON-ROAD AND OFF-ROAD VEHICLES.

UH, HERE WE DO EVERYTHING FROM FULL PLATFORM AUTOMATION TO PARTICULAR TECHNOLOGIES, AGAIN, BOTH FOR, UH, MILITARY AND COMMERCIAL CLIENTS IN THIS AREA.

WE'VE, UH, AUTOMATED EVERYTHING FROM A GOLF CART TO A, A CLASS EIGHT TRACTOR TRAILER.

SO A WHOLE VARIETY.

AND YOU'RE GOING TO SEE SOME OF THESE VEHICLES TOO.

UM, AND WE WORK ON, UH, PARTICULAR TECHNOLOGY TO TELL EXACTLY WHERE IT'S AT.

UH, WE HAVE A PROJECT RIGHT NOW, UH, THAT YOU WERE BRIEFED ON IN JUNE, UH, ABOUT THE DIGITAL DIVIDE ASSESSMENT.

SO, UH, KIND OF DOING A BASELINE OF WHAT DIGITAL DIVIDE LOOKS LIKE WITHIN THE 10 COUNCIL DISTRICTS THROUGHOUT CITY OF SAN ANTONIO.

UH, SECOND ONE'S SUSTAINABILITY.

SO THAT'S THE, UH, C P SS STREETLIGHT, R F P THAT WAS RELEASED THREE WEEKS AGO, I BELIEVE.

UM, SO THAT KIND OF, UM, EXEMPLIFIES THIS PARTNERSHIP, UH, BECAUSE C P S AND CITY OF SAN ANTONIO CAME TOGETHER WITH AN RP PROCESS.

AND THEN WE TACKED THE RIVER AUTHORITY USE CASE IN THERE THAT ALSO KIND OF EXEMPLIFIES, UH, THE WAY WE DO A CHALLENGE RIVER MODEL.

UH, THERE'S A LIST IN FRONT OF YOU, BUT, UH, OBVIOUSLY V IS UP THERE.

U T S A IS UP THERE, WHO'S ALSO A PART OF THIS, UH, PROGRAM AS WELL.

SO THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

SMART CITIES, 1.0, 3.0, OR 2.0 AND 3.0.

AND YOU'VE ALL PROBABLY HEARD ME TALK ABOUT THIS A FEW TIMES, BUT I WANTED TO REITERATE IT.

SO, SMART CITIES 1.0, IT'S REALLY THAT VENDOR DRIVEN MODEL.

SO IF YOU LOOK AT THE SCOOTERS THAT JUST KIND OF DROP IN DOWNTOWN OR WHEREVER IT'S REALLY VENDOR DRIVEN, OR IF YOU LOOK AT RIDESHARE, IT'S REALLY VENDOR DRIVEN, WHICH IS NOT A BAD THING.

IT CAN BE, UH, DISRUPTIVE, UH, AND THE CITY TYPICALLY HAS TO REACT TO IT WITH REGULATIONS, UH, BUT AT TIMES IT DOES ADD BENEFIT.

SMART CITIES 2.0 IS REALLY WHERE WE'VE BEEN FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS WHEN IT COMES TO SMART CITIES IN THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO, IT'S REALLY BEEN GOVERNMENT DRIVING THE IDEAS THAT ARE COMING THROUGH.

IT'S, UH, MAYBE A COUNCIL MEMBER OR MAYBE A CITY MANAGER GOING TO ANOTHER CITY AND SEEING SOMETHING SHINY AND THEN COMING BACK AND SAYING, HEY, LET'S DO THAT.

I THINK IT'LL PROVIDE VALUE WHERE WE'RE TRYING TO OPERATE NOW, SINCE MY TEAM AND I CAME IN IN OCTOBER, IS THIS SMART CITIES 3.0 MODEL.

AND IT'S REALLY A CO-CREATION MODEL.

IT'S TRYING TO IDENTIFY WITH THE COMMUNITY WHAT THE CHALLENGES THEY'RE FACING DAY TO DAY ARE.

AND THEN WE COME BACK AS THE GOVERNMENT AND TRY TO DRIVE THAT, THOSE CHALLENGES DOWN TO THE VENDORS.

WE DON'T WANT THE VENDORS TO JUST PROVIDE SHINY TECHNOLOGY.

IT COMES FROM ANOTHER CITY.

WE WANT THESE CH THESE SOLUTIONS TO ACTUALLY BE CUSTOM FITTED FOR OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

NOW, THAT IS NOT TO SAY WE CAN'T DO ALL THREE OF THESE.

I DO EXPECT VENDORS TO COME IN AND PUSH GREAT PRODUCTS.

AND ONE OF MY, UH, ONE OF OUR I T C MEMBERS ACTUALLY TOLD US A COUPLE WEEKS AGO THAT WE SHOULD BE THE FACILITATORS OF INNOVATION.

UH, SO THAT, THAT KIND OF KEYS INTO THAT.

SO THESE ARE NOT, UH, EXCLUSIVE OF ONE ANOTHER.

WE CAN DO THESE SIMULTANEOUS, BUT I JUST WANTED TO KEY IN ON THIS CO-CREATION ITEM.

SO LET'S TALK ABOUT THE INNOVATION ZONES.
