>> MAYOR NIRENBERG: THERE'S A MOTION AND SECOND FOR CONTINUANCE TO NOVEMBER 7TH FOR ITEMS 2 AND 15.
HEARD TODAY, JACK. WOULD YOU LIKE TO SPEAK ON IT?
ITEM 15. >> MAYOR NIRENBERG, OTHER MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, FOR THE RECORD MY NAME IS JACK M. FINGER. ITEM NUMBER 15 IS ABOUT A ZONING CASE THAT IS PROPOSING A CHANGE FROM RESIDENTIAL SINGLE-FAMILY AREA TO A NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL AREA. AND MR. WHYTE, THIS IS IN YOUR DISTRICT. I LOOKED AT THE BACKUP DOCUMENTS AND OF COURSE THIS IS ON NACOGDOCHES ROAD. I LOOKED AT SOME OF THE DETAILS FROM THE ZONING COMMISSION MEETING AND IT TELLS ME THAT THE 23 NOTICES THAT WENT OUT, AS MUCH AS 30%, 30%, THAT'S ALMOST A THIRD OF PEOPLE SURROUNDING THAT AREA SAID THEY DIDN'T WANT IT. THAT'S QUITE A BIT OF OPPOSITION THERE, SIR.
AND OUTSIDE OF THE 2 200-FOOT PERIMETER, AS MANY AS EIGHT PEOPLE SAID THEY DIDN'T WANT IT EITHER. THERE USUALLY IS A PRETTY GOOD REASON FOR THIS.
MAYBE THEY DON'T WANT THE -- WHAT THEY CONSIDER COMMERCIAL EVEN ROACHMENTS, EVEN IF IT'S NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL, BUT THERE'S ANOTHER REASON, BUT IT BEHOOVES WHY THERE IS SO MUCH OPPOSITION AGAINST THIS CASE.
I THINK MAYBE YOU WANT TO SAY -- IF IT'S THAT MUCH LEGITIMATE OPPOSITION, WHY NOT JUST SAY NO TO THE WHOLE THING ALTOGETHER. THANK YOU.
>> MAYOR NIRENBERG: THANK YOU, MR. FINGER. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION ON ITEMS TO BE CONTINUED? HEARING NONE, THERE'S A MOTION AND SECOND FOR CONTINUANCE OF ITEMS 2 AND 15. TO NOVEMBER 7TH.
PLEASE VOTE. MOTION CARRIES. ALL RIGHT.
WE'LL MOVE TO OUR CONSENT ZONING AGENDA, ITEMS 4, 5, 67, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 AND 14. I'LL ENTERTAIN A MOTION FOR THOSE ITEMS.
>> SO MOVED. >> SECOND. >> MAYOR NIRENBERG: THERE'S A MOTION AND A SECOND FOR APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT ZONING AGENDA.
IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION -- WE HAVE TWO CITIZENS SIGNED UP TO SPEAK ON CONSENT ITEMS. CYNTHIA CAVASOS. OKAY.
MISUKO RAMOS ON 13. >> YOU. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION FROM COUNCIL ON THE CONSENT AGENDA? HEARING NONE, THERE'S A MOTION AND SECOND FOR
[00:05:02]
APPROVAL. PLEASE VOTE. MOTION CARRIES.ALL RIGHT. AT 2:11 P.M. ON THE 3RD DAY OF OCTOBER, 2024, WE ARE ADJOURNED. THANKS, EVERYBODY.
