IN MAY OF 2024 MY PARTNER AND I PURCHASED OUR FOREVER HOME AFTER RELOCATING FROM SEATTLE, WASHINGTON. WE SPENT EIGHT YEARS SEARCHING FOR THE PLACE FOR A COMMUNITY WE COULD RETIRE AND THRIVE AND GROW OLD TOGETHER.
IT OFFERED AN ESTABLISHED, VIBRANT COMMUNITY AND AMENITIES SUCH AS TRAILS, GOLF COURSE AND SERENE LAKES. BEFORE MAKING THIS LIFE-CHANGING DECISION, WE THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED THE AREA FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT.
THERE WERE MULTIPLE SURROUNDING PLOTS ZONED RESIDENTIAL USE SIGNALING THE AREA WOULD CONTINUE TO GROW HERE AND GIVES THIS COMMUNITY ITS UNIQUE CHARACTER.
IT IS DISHEARTENING TO EVEN SEE THIS APPLICATION CONSIDERED.
REZONING THE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TO ACCOMMODATE A FUNERAL SERVICE PROVIDER DISRUPTS THE VISION OF OUR COMMUNITY AND UNDERMINES THE CITY'S OWN ZONING

IN 1995, 66% OF SAN ANTONIO WERE HOMEOWNERS. THAT NUMBER HAS FALLEN WELL B THE BEXAR COUNTY AND STATE OF TEXAS AND NATIONAL AVERAGES.
WHILE SOME ATTRIBUTE THIS TO RISING INTEREST RATES, THE LACK OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
FIRST-TIME HOME BUYERS ARE FACING RECORD HIGH PRICES WITH THE AVERAGE AGE OF NEW BUYERS INCREASING FROM 3 TO 38 YEARS. -- FROM 33 TO 38 YEARS.
UNFORTUNATELY THE CITY HOUSING INITIATIVES DISPROPORTIONATELY FOCUS ON RENTAL DEVELOPMENTS IN 2022, THE CITY FUNDED 30 HOUSING PROJECTS, BUT WITHIN OWN TARGETED HOMEOWNERSHIP. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. SAN ANTONIO'S FUTURE DEPENDS ON EMPOWERING FAMILIES TO BUILD GENERATIONAL BELT AND DENYING THE ZONING CHANGE WILL ALLOW US PRESERVE SPACE FOR SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES. HOMEOWNER OWNERSHIP IS MORE THAN AN INVESTMENT. --
